N
o matter how sophisticated
technology becomes, or how
dependent we are on our computers
and artificial intelligence systems, it is
us who are the masters of this tech-
nology. Not the other way around!
There is an enormous amount of re-
search being conducted today to find
effective models or algorithms that
can automatically diagnose and ana-
lyze incipient faults. We developed
our own neural-network based auto-
matic expert diagnosis system,
ADVISOR, which has been success-
fully used in many industries for the
last 15 years for that same purpose.
Such intelligent methodologies have
been proven to greatly reduce the
work load of the condition montoring
specialists, but they can never re-
place them!
Therefore, in addition to providing
analysis tools, we also provide the
services of our own specialists to aid
in diagnosing problems.
Brüel & Kjær Vibro takes pride in the
diagnostics service we have been
providing for the last 50 years, and
we have a team of experienced, well-
repected specialists to show for this.
This is reflected by the long-term
service agreements we have with
many of our customers, which often
include diagnostic services.
In an upcoming issue of Uptime, we
will talk more about the after-sales
services we offer, but in this issue we
will focus on one specific topic; diag-
nostic services used to solve a cus-
tomer's specific problem.
